Head of Comms & Media Production
Deadline
The deadline for applications is the 11th of June 2025
What we do
Alma Economics combines unparalleled analytical expertise with the ability to communicate complex ideas clearly.
We are a team of economists, social researchers, data scientists, developers and creatives working together on critical issues facing our society today. Our work spans multiple policy areas, including education, health and social care, housing and homelessness, the environment, public finance, and international development, among others.
Our diverse staff combines decades of experience in economic and social research at the highest levels with the ability to develop state-of-the-art tech tools and powerful communications.
We work with some of the most forward-thinking organisations in the voluntary, public, and private sectors. Our clients include most UK government departments, the Welsh Government, the Scottish Government, councils across the country, arms-length bodies, and several leading charities.
Internationally, we work with major supranational organisations including the World Bank, UNICEF, the WHO, the OECD, and the European Commission, as well as a number of national governments in Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
The role
We are building something bold at Alma.
Right now, our Communications & Media Production team is compact but impactful – producing high-profile publications, running compelling campaigns, and delivering polished media assets that support our research and amplify our voice.
But this is just the beginning.
We are looking for a Head of Communications & Media Production to help us evolve this function into a full creative production agency – one that brings serious ideas to life with clarity, originality, and heart. You will lead and grow a multidisciplinary team of copywriters, designers, marketers, and producers. You have the vision, and the mandate, to set the creative direction while building the systems, capabilities, and strategy that will carry this talented team on a growth journey into exciting new territory.
This is a hands-on leadership role. You will work closely with economists, data scientists, and researchers to craft outputs that are accurate and compelling. You will shape Alma’s voice across publishing, campaigns, media production, and digital tools, support our marketing work, and push us into new formats.
The goal? To build an ambitious in-house agency that can do justice to the complexity of the important topics we work on, and make the truth not just visible, but vivid.
This is your opportunity to shape how a new kind of policy organisation speaks to the world.
Who we want to work with
You are someone who sees the big picture – and then gets to work.
You care about telling important stories, and telling them well – through clear messaging, sharp copy, and thoughtful marketing campaigns. You bring ambition and creative vision, but you also understand how to manage a team, run a pipeline, and get things shipped.
You might come from journalism, media, comms, or creative direction – but wherever you have been, you built things that last. You have led projects with many moving parts, guided teams through ambiguity, and delivered work you are proud of. You are an entrepreneurial thinker who gets energy from building, scaling, and evolving. And you want your next chapter to be about work that matters.
You will find that here.
At Alma, we value openness, integrity, and ambition. We think big and stay grounded. And most importantly, we do good – and we want good people with us on this quest to build something unique. If that sounds like you, we would love to talk.

· Leadership experience in managing creatives (copywriters, designers, proofreaders), keeping projects on track while encouraging innovation
· Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills – you’re a natural bridge between technical experts, creative contributors, and clients
· Ambition and adaptability – ready to take on a role that combines structure and creativity, delivery and long-term vision
· Exceptional communication skills in English. Proficiency in other languages (including Greek) will be considered a plus but is not essential
